Quinte Agricultural Hall of Fame > Robert and Evelyn Burkitt
Robert and Evelyn Burkitt have operated their farm- Nolevue Farm as a very effective team for over 50 years. They have successfully raised dairy and beef cattle and cash crops thoughout their farm lives.
Evelyn was chair of the 1986 International Plowing Match Food Division. She also acted as MC for the duration of the match. For the past 30 years she has chaired the Family Tent at the Hastings County Farm Show and Plowing Match and been the MC for the Family Tent for the whole event.
Evelyn has been active with the Quinte Exhibition (Belleville Agricultural Society) and has been president of the Women’s Division.
She has also held executive positions in the church and Women’s Institute at the local and district levels.
Robert has been past president and is a life member of the Quinte Exhibition and Raceway. An active dairy producer with the Hastings Holstein organization and regional association. Robert was a director of Eastern Breeders Inc., and its president in 1981.
Robert has been active both locally and at the provincial level and both have provided excellent leadership to the agricultural and community in which they live.
Evelyn and Robert have been very active in their church and community organizations.
They have motivated others to work towards common goals for their community and for Hastings County agriculture.
