ROBERTand HELEN WILLIAMS
Robert (a sixth generation farmer) and Helen used to own and operate Wilhome Farms near Bloomfield, Prince Edward County. Robert was in partnership with his father Morley and later with their son Don before selling the farm to Don and his wife Anne in 2008. Wllhome Farms has a purebred Holstein herd, grows cash crops and operated a swine operation for many years. Helen and Robert were active 4-H members with Helen achieving Provincial Honors in home making and Robert completing many projects in livestock and crops.
Both were active in Junior Farmers. Helen led 28 4-H home making clubs, was a area representative of the 4H Leaders Committee, attended 4-H Leader's Conference and a leader at Citizen's Conference. She also operated Wilhome Farmhouse B&B for 19 years promoting agriculture to many city families. Robert served, as president of several farm organizations, has been a Director of the Prince Edward Federation of Agriculture for 40 years, and was a provincial Director of the Federation of Agriculture for seven years.
Robert has been recognized for his contributions with the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award, the medal for the 125th. anniversary of Canada, the Canadian Bicentennial Certificate of Merit and Honorary Membership in the Ontario Institute of Agrologists. In 1995 on the 80th Anniversary of 4-H in Ontario, Helen, Robert and family were chosen as the Prince Edward County 4-H Family. Both Helen and Robert were founding members of the Waring's Creek Improvement Association, have served on most committees of Bloomfield United Church and Robert was an initial member of the "Taste The County" marketing organization.
Helen worked with Welcome Wagon for 17 years, delivered Meals-On Wheels for Community Care and volunteered in the Reading Programme at Pinecrest Public school. Robert has served seven years on the Prince Edward County Council's Agricultural and Environmental Advisory Committees and over 20 years in Boy Scout activities.
