LLOYD KELLOGG
1925-2005
Lloyd lived his entire life at Welovale Farm at Welcome, Ontario. The farm comprised 360 acres, a Holstein herd, beef cattle, and cash crops including wheat and red clover. While farming Lloyd led a number of 4-H clubs, maintained an Allis Chalmers dealership, and did custom combining and spraying. The dairy herd twice received D.H.I.A. Production Achievement Awards. Lloyd was a member of the Machinery Advisory Committee, the Northumberland Crop Improvement Association, and the Hope Agricultural Heritage Club plus he was a Director of the Durham County Milk Committee (now part of Northumberland).
Mr. Kellogg was one of the initial founders of Colonel Giles Volunteer Fire Department, which became Hope Township Fire Department. He was Fire Chief for 33 years and donated land for Fire Hall #1. Lloyd was an active member of Welcome United Church and the A.O.T.S. Men's Club, a Choir member, a member of the United Church Bay of Quinte Conference Rural Life Committee and involved in Canadian Foodgrains Bank growing projects. He also served on Hope Township Council. Members of his family still reside and farm at Welovale Farm, R.R. #1, Port Hope.
