DOUGLAS FARRELL
Doug and his wife Margaret have farmed at Roslin in partnership with his brother Don since his graduation from Kemptville Agricultural College. The farm comprises over 800 acres of crops, a 200 sow farrow to finish hog operation and a 40 cow beef herd.
He has been a Director and President of the Quinte Pork Producers since 1961, a 4-H leader, and a member and one term Chair of the Hastings County Farm Service Club.
Doug served as Director for Eastern Ontario on the Ontario Pork Producers Marketing Board from 1974 to 1990, on the Ontario Board’s Executive for 14 years, as Vice-Chair for three years and as it’s Chair from 1981-1984. This enabled him to take part in trade missions to 4 European countries and to Japan.
Doug was a founding member of Canada Pork Inc and served 10 years on the Canadian Pork Council.
He served a number of years as a member of the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, and as a member of the Loyalist College Board of Governors.
Doug has served several terms on local church activities and enjoys piloting his own airplane in his spare time.
