JIM HUGHES
Jim and his brother John are fifth generation farmers and operate Hughes Orchards, near Picton, Ontario.
Jim has provided countless hours to his community through committees, boards and organizations.
In the 1980's activities included Reeve of North Marysburg Township, a member of Prince Edward Region Conservation Authority, Executive Member and President of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Grower’s Association and seven years as Chairman of the Ontario Agricultural Advisory Committee. In 1984, Jim was the recipient of the Golden Apple Award for contributions to the Ontario apple industry.
Jim has been involved with the Ontario Apple Marketing Commission from 1969-2001 as a Director, Committeeman and Chairman.
For seven years he was Chairman of the Prince Edward County Land Division Committee, a ten year member of Rotary, and served in 2006 as its President.
Jim has been a board member of the Farm Debt Review Board, a Director of Foreign Agricultural Resource Management Services, President and Director of International Dwarf Fruit Tree Association, a Director of Mar-Brite Food Cooperative Inc., and is owner operator of The Blueberry Patch.
