RUBY B. (DUNHAM) McCULLOCH
1914-2002
Ruby McCulloch spent her entire life actively involved in organizations dedicated to the betterment of her family and the rural community.
A lifelong resident of Seymour Township, Northumberland county, she married Gordon McCulloch in 1935 and was the mother of two daughters and three sons. Her hobbies of baking, sewing, quilting and gardening were put to good use as a 4-H leader. As a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Campbellford, she provided leadership in the Women’s Missionary Society, Ladies Aid and Sunday School.
Her work with the Campbellford-Seymour Agricultural Society and the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario brought her the most recognition.
Ruby was a well known, and active member and exhibitor at Campbellford Fair for over 60 years. She received the Ontario Agricultural Service Diploma in 1983.
Ruby was also a long serving member, Secretary and President of the Seymour West Women’s Institute, served as leader of Senior Extension courses and held district and provincial positions. She received the Canadian Centennial Medal in recognition of her valuable work and was honoured with a FWIO Life Membership.
Following receipt of the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 1992 in recognition of 57 years of volunteer service, Ruby continued as an active volunteer in community organizations for another ten years.
