ALLEN MCDOUGALL KETCHESON
1914-1993
Allen was born in Madoc Township on land cleared by three generations of his Loyalist family.
After completing grade 8 he returned to the family farm like many farm boys of his generation.
He served as a Director and President of the Cold Springs Cheese Company and led its amalgamation with three other small companies to form Eldorado Cheese and Butter Cooperative in 1951.
After being active in the Hastings County Cheese Producers as a Director and President, he was elected as a Director to the Ontario Cheese Producers Association and remained active until 1965 when he was appointed to the Ontario Milk Marketing Board. He served as zone Director for Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington until 1981.
Allen was a Director of the Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Company as well as a Director of the Madoc Agricultural society for almost 40 years.
He served many years on Madoc Township Council and a ten-year term as township Reeve and was active in Hazzard's Corners United Church.
